Petsitter is a ball-like mobile robot designed to monitor, play with, and feed pets remotely when their owners need to be traveling constantly and away from the beloved pets. Petsitter has the following features and functions:
(1) Remote control: petsitter can be remote controlled through the Internet by pet owners who are away from their pets left at home;
(2) Mobile robot: it is a mobile robot which can actively play with pets;
(3) Stable shape: the spherical shape with a flat bottom makes the robot stable and resistant to push/pull by pets;
(4) Real-time monitoring: the robot can acquire the real-time images of pets, and play the role of the extended eye for pet owners who are attentive to their pets;
(5) Food feeding: when pets become hungry, petsitter can release food stored in the compartment, and free pets from hunger;
(6) Entertaining: although alone at home, pets will not be lonely as petsitter can be controlled to play with them, play music for them, or even produce the sound of cats for them to chase.
As a result, although away from the pet, with petsitter, pet owners can still monitor their pets, play with their pets to free them from loneliness, or even feed pets when they are hungry. Since the robot is equipped with some surveillance function, it can also be utilized to make the
owners informed of what is going on at home.
In the increasingly globalized world with an increasingly large number of pet owners, petsitter can be the cross-world link between pet owners and their pets. People and pets, away but concordantly
connected.
